Know which things are considered prohibited in the worship of Lord Shiva – Sawan 2023
Sawan 2023 Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali has told that the month of Sawan is most suitable for worshiping Lord Shiva. By performing Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva in Sawan, the seeker gets freedom from diseases, defects and sufferings. In the entire month of Sawan, worship of Lord Shiva is done according to the rules and regulations. Everyone offers at least cow’s milk, Gangajal, Belpatra, Bhang and Dhatura in their worship. But sometimes people unknowingly offer such things in the worship of Lord Shiva, which are considered forbidden for them. Those things should not be used in Shiv Puja even by mistake. Only their favorite things are offered to the deities, offering forbidden things in the worship of Lord Shiva does not give the result of worshiping Shiva and Shiva can get angry. Sawan 2023
According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, do not offer these 8 things to Lord Shiva in worship
1. Basil leaves
Basil leaves are not offered in the worship of Lord Shiva because once upon a time there was a famous Jalandhar whose wife’s name was Vrinda. Everyone was troubled by that demon. But Vrinda, the wife of that demon, was a very pious woman, so no one was able to kill her husband Jalandhar due to her tenacity. But one day Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and broke the chastity of his wife Vrinda. As soon as Vrinda came to know about this, she surrendered herself to the fire. It is believed that the Tulsi plant grew from where Vrinda had immolated herself in the fire. Then Vrinda cursed not to use Tulsi in the worship of Bholenath. For this reason, since then the use of Tulsi leaves in the worship of Lord Shiva is not considered auspicious. Sawan 2023
2. Coconut or quince
Coconut or quince is prohibited in Shiv Puja. Shreefal is related to Goddess Lakshmi and she is the wife of Lord Vishnu. For this reason coconut is not offered to Lord Shiva. And
All the things offered on Shivling should be pure. Means that which should not be consumed. Coconut water is accepted after offering it to the deities, that’s why offering coconut water on Shivling is prohibited. But coconut can be offered to the idol of Lord Shiva.
3. Sindoor or Kumkum
By mistake, people apply vermilion or kumkum to Lord Shiva along with Mother Parvati. This should not be done as kumkum is considered a symbol of beauty and is associated with good luck. Even married women use kumkum and Lord Shiva is considered a renunciate, so he has no association with women’s items.
For this reason, Kumkum is not offered to Lord Shiva. Along with this, Kumkum is considered to be feminine, hence it is not offered on Shivling. Kumkum is a substance made from turmeric Sawan 2023
4. Turmeric
Shivling is the symbol of power of Lord Shiva and turmeric is considered to be related to women. That’s why turmeric is not offered to Lord Shiva. Apart from Bholenath, turmeric is offered in the worship of all other deities. Apart from this, it is also believed that Shivling is made up of two parts. One part is Shivling and the other part is the symbol of Goddess Parvati, therefore turmeric can be offered on the reservoir. Sawan 2023
5. Conch
Don’t offer water from the conch to the Shivling even by mistake. Although it is used in every worship. Water is also offered to the gods and goddesses. But the conch shell is not used in the worship of Bholenath. According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, Shankhchud was a mighty demon. He was killed by Shiva, so conch water is prohibited in Shiva worship. This is the reason why water is not offered to Bholenath with a conch shell. Sawan 2023
6. Ketaki flower
Shiv ji does not accept Ketaki flower in his worship. The reason for this is that once there was a dispute between Brahma ji and Vishnu ji about who is the best among the two. After this Lord Shiva originated a Jyotirlinga and said that the one who finds the beginning and end of this Jyotirlinga, would be called the best. Brahma ji went down to find the beginning of Jyotirlinga, while Vishnu ji went up in search of its end. A Ketaki flower is also coming down along with Brahmaji. When Brahma ji could not find the end of the Jyotirlinga, he lied in front of Shiva that he had found one end of it and in this lie he made a witness including Ketaki flower. Shiva got angry with Brahma Dev’s lie and he separated Brahma ji from the fifth body. The Ketaki flower was cursed that from today onwards you will be considered prohibited in Shiva worship.
