• Linseed flower has special importance in the worship of Lord Shiva.
• Red and white flowers are specially offered in the worship of Lord Shiva. This plant is also called madar. Regarding the flower of the figure, it is believed that by offering it to Lord Shiva, he becomes happy quickly. It is believed that salvation is attained by using this flower in Shiva worship.
• Not only Lord Shiva, Kaner’s flower is very dear to all the Gods and Goddesses. From divine point of view, it has been described as the most favorite flower of Lord Shiva. It is believed that by offering this flower in the worship of Lord Shiva, man gets the desired wealth.

• Dhatura is very dear to Lord Bholenath. Its fruits and flowers are specially offered in the worship of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the couple who worship Lord Shiva with this Dhatura flower on the auspicious occasion of Shivratri, they will soon be blessed with children by the grace of Shiva.
• It is believed that if you want to remove sorrow and poverty, do not forget to worship Lord Shiva with Juhi flower. These flowers are not offered to Lord Shiva

Red colored flowers, ketki and kevda flowers are never offered on Shivling. It is believed that by offering these things, one does not get the result of worship. Keep in mind that only white colored flowers should be offered to Lord Shiva. This makes them happy quickly. Apart from this, whatever the blue or white flower of Aparajita must be offered. It is believed that this Aparajita is very dear to Lord Shiva. By offering it, he becomes very happy. Sawan 2023

Ketaki flower is not offered to Lord Shiva

The name of the flower which is unpleasant to Lord Shiva is Ketaki. Lord Shiva has given up this flower from his worship.

According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, once there was a dispute between Brahmaji and Lord Vishnu as to who is greater among the two. Lord Shiva was made the judge to decide the dispute. A Jyotirlinga appeared due to the illusion of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva said that whichever of Brahma and Vishnu will tell the beginning and end of Jyotirlinga, he will be called big. Holding the Jyotirlinga, Lord Brahma went down to find out the beginning and Lord Vishnu went up to find out the end of the Jyotirlinga.

Even after walking for a long time, when the beginning and end of the Jyotirlinga could not be known, Brahmaji saw that a Ketaki flower was also coming down with him. Brahmaji coaxed the Ketaki flower to lie and reached Lord Shiva. Brahmaji said that I have come to know from where Jyotirlinga originated, but Lord Vishnu said that no, I have not been able to know the end of Jyotirlinga. To prove his point of truth, Brahmaji got Ketaki flower to testify, but Lord Shiva came to know about Brahmaji’s lie and cut off one of Brahmaji’s heads. That’s why Brahmaji became four-faced from five-faced. The Ketaki flower told a lie, so Lord Shiva barred it from his worship. Sawan 2023

Correct method of offering flowers to Lord Shiva-

• There is a special method of offering flowers to Lord Shiva. Flowers should be offered to Lord Shiva according to the same method. Flowers should always be offered in the same state in which they bloom, that is, the face of the flower should be towards the sky.
• On the other hand Durva should always be offered towards you and Bilva Patra should always be offered keeping the face down. They should not be smelled before offering flowers. Flowers with insects are not offered to God. The flowers in which the feet have touched, such flowers are also not offered to God.
• Stale flowers are not offered to Lord Shiva. According to the scriptures, the flowers of the gardener’s house are never considered stale, therefore, while taking flowers from the gardener, one should not think of stale flowers. Sawan 2023
