Why is Ganapati called the first worshiper?
According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, once upon a time a dispute started regarding who should be worshiped first among all the gods. Meanwhile, all the gods started claiming themselves to be the best, seeing the situation of this dispute, Narad ji advised everyone to solve this dispute from Lord Shiva and know its answer. Hearing the words of Narad ji, all the gods reached Lord Shiva. He prayed to Lord Shiva to resolve this dispute. Hearing the prayers of the gods, Lord Shiva made a plan. Lord Shiva organized a competition in which all the gods participated enthusiastically. According to the competition, all the gods had to travel around the entire universe sitting on their vehicles. In this competition, whoever circumambulates the universe and reaches Lord Shiva first will be considered worshipable. All the gods immediately boarded their vehicles and set out to circumambulate the universe. Lord Shri Ganesha also participated in this competition, but he did not go out to circumambulate the universe, rather he took seven rounds of his parents Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and remembered them with folded hands in front of them. Lord Shiva became pleased with Gauri Ganesh for doing this and after the arrival of all the gods, Lord Shiva declared Ganesh the winner of the competition. Surprised by this, all the gods asked Lord Shiva the reason behind doing this, to which Lord Shiva said, the highest place in the entire universe and all the worlds has been given to the parents, who are considered the highest among the gods and the creation. . Hearing this from Lord Shiva, all the gods agreed, after which Lord Shri Ganesha came to be considered the first to be worshipped. From then till today, worshiping Ganesh before every auspicious work or festival is considered auspicious. It is believed that worshiping Lord Ganesha removes all troubles and brings happiness. Lord Ganesha got the blessing of being the first worshiper.
According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, once there was a war between Lord Shiva and Ganesha and during that war, Ganesha’s head got separated from his body. When Goddess Parvati told Shiva that Ganesha was her son, on Parvati’s request Lord Shiva attached the head of an elephant to Ganesha’s body. After the elephant’s head was attached to the torso, Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva that who would worship her son in this form in the universe, then Lord Shiva gave a boon to Ganesha that before the worship of all the gods and goddesses and every auspicious work, Ganesha will be worshiped and without it every puja or any work will be considered incomplete.
