Rishi Panchami fast story

According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, King Sitashva once asked Brahmaji – Grandfather, among all the fasts, which is the best and immediately fruitful fast. He told that the fast of Rishi Panchami is the best among all fasts and destroys sins. Brahmaji said, O king, there lived a virtuous Brahmin named Uttanka in the country of Vidarbha. His wife Sushila was devoted to her husband. He had a son and a daughter. His daughter became a widow after marriage. The unhappy Brahmin couple along with their daughter started living in a hut on the banks of Ganga. After some time, Untaka came to know that his daughter used to touch the puja utensils even when she was menstruating at birth. Due to this his body has become infected with insects. Religious scriptures believe that a menstruating woman is impure like a Chandalini on the first day, a Brahmaghatini on the second day and a washerwoman on the third day. She is purified by taking bath on the fourth day. If one observes the fast of Rishi Panchami with a pure heart then one can become free from sin. With the father’s permission, his daughter observed fast and worshiped Rishi Panchami as per the rituals. It is said that due to the effect of fasting she became free from all sorrows. Also, he got immense good fortune in his next life. Rishi Panchami
