कर्णवेध संस्कार

कर्णवेध संस्कार हिंदू धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों में नौवां संस्कार है। यह संस्कार कान में श्रवण शक्ति की वृद्धि, कान में आभूषण धारण करने और स्वास्थ्य की रक्षा के लिए किया जाता है। खासकर लड़कियों के लिए कर्णवेदन जरूरी माना जाता है। इसमें दोनों कानों में छेद करने के बाद उसमें सोने की कुण्डली पहनी जाती है ताकि उसकी नसों को स्वस्थ रखा जा सके। इसके भौतिक लाभ हैं।

• उपनयन से पहले कर्णवेध-संस्कार करना चाहिए।
• यह संस्कार 6 महीने से 16वें महीने तक या विषम वर्षों जैसे 3, 5 आदि में या परिवार की परंपरा के अनुसार उचित उम्र में किया जाता है
• यह पुरुषों और महिलाओं में पूर्ण स्त्रीत्व और पुरुषत्व प्राप्त करने के लिए किया जाता है।

• अशुभ समय में किसी पवित्र स्थान पर विराजमान देवताओं की पूजा करने के बाद सूर्य के सामने निम्न मंत्र से बालक या बालिका के कानों का जाप करना चाहिए |

इसके बाद बालक के दाहिने कान में पहले और बाएं कान में बाद में सुई से छेद करें। उनमें कुडंल आदि पहनाएं। बालिका के पहले बाएं कान में, फिर दाहिने कान में छेद करके तथा बाएं नाक में भी छेद करके आभुषण पहनाने का विधान है। मस्तिष्क के दोनों भागों को विद्युत के प्रभावों से प्रभावशील बनाने के लिए नाक और कान में छिद्र करके सोना पहनना लाभकारी माना गया है। नाक में नथुनी पहनने से नासिका-संबधी रोग नहीं होते और सर्दी-खांसी में राहत मिलती है।[क्या ये तथ्य है या केवल एक राय है?] कानों में सोने की बालियं या झुमकें आदि पहनने से स्त्रीयों में मासिकधर्म नियमित रहता है, इससे हिस्टीरिया रोग में भी लाभ मिलता है |
