Satyanarayan Vrat Katha is considered to be the most revered Vrat Katha among the Sanatan devotees. According to the belief, Satyanarayan is worshipped on every full moon. The Narayan form of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu is worshipped on this day. At the same time, many devotees do this worship on Thursday as well, being the Karak Dev of Thursday. Worshipping Truth in the form of Narayan is the worship of Satyanarayan. Its second meaning is that only Narayan is the truth in the world, everything else is Maya. Rules of Lord Satyanarayan Katha

After taking a resolution regarding worship, the resolution must be fulfilled.
Prasad should be taken immediately after the puja.
General rules
Brahmacharya should be followed.
Do not waste water in any way on this day.
Women should not wash their hair.
Men should not shave.
Clothes should neither be washed nor should they be washed anywhere else.
The house should not be washed i.e. should be mopped.
Nails should not be cut.

Sankalp – Take water, flowers and rice in hand before solving. In Sankalp say your wish about the year, date, place and your name on the day you are worshiping. Now leave the water taken in hand on the ground.

Sanctification – Taking water in the left hand and chanting the following mantra with the ring finger of the right hand, sprinkle water and worship materials on yourself-

Unholy – holy or omniscient Gatopi wa.

This smriti pundarikasam sa bahyabhyantara shuchih.
Then Pundarikasham, then Pundarikasham, then Pundarikaksham.

Story Reading and Aarti

Shree Satyanarayan Vrat-worshippers take a bath on the day of Purnima or Sankranti, wear clean or washed clean clothes, apply tilak on the forehead and start the worship at an auspicious time. सत्यनारायण पूजा

सत्यनारायण व्रत कथा सनातन भक्तों में सबसे अधिक पूजनीय व्रत कथा मानी जाती है। मान्यता के अनुसार हर पूर्णिमा को सत्यनारायण की पूजा की जाती है। इस दिन भगवान श्री हरि विष्णु के नारायण स्वरूप की पूजा की जाती है। वहीं गुरुवार के कारक देव होने के कारण कई भक्त गुरुवार को भी यह पूजा करते हैं | सत्य को नारायण के रूप में पूजना ही सत्यनारायण की पूजा है। इसका दूसरा अर्थ यह है कि संसार में एकमात्र नारायण ही सत्य हैं, बाकी सब माया है। सत्य में ही सारा जगत समाया हुआ है। सत्य के सहारे ही शेष भगवान पृथ्वी को धारण करते हैं।

पंडित निधि श्रीमाली के अनुसार इस व्रत , पूजा को करने से भक्त के जीवन से दुख-दुख का नाश होने के साथ-साथ जीवन में सुख, शांति और समृद्धि आती है, पुत्र की प्राप्ति होती है और सर्वत्र विजय का वरदान मिलता है. इस व्रत के लिए किसी विशेष तिथि की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है।

भगवान सत्यनारायण कथा के नियम

• पूजा के संबंध में संकल्प लेने के बाद संकल्प अवश्य पूरा करना चाहिए।
• पूजा के तुरंत बाद प्रसाद लेना चाहिए।

सामान्य नियम

• ब्रह्मचर्य का पालन करना चाहिए।
• इस दिन किसी भी प्रकार से जल का अपव्यय न करें।
• महिलाओं को बाल नहीं धोने चाहिए।
• पुरुषों को दाढ़ी नहीं बनानी चाहिए।
• कपड़े न तो धोने चाहिए और न ही उन्हें कहीं और धोना चाहिए।
• घर को नहीं धोना चाहिए यानी पोछा लगाना चाहिए।
• नाखून नहीं काटने चाहिए।

संकल्प – हल करने से पहले हाथ में पानी, फूल और चावल लें। संकल्प में जिस दिन आप पूजा कर रहे हैं उस दिन वर्ष, तिथि, स्थान और अपने नाम के बारे में अपनी इच्छा बोलें। – अब हाथ में लिए गए पानी को जमीन पर छोड़ दें |

पवित्रीकरण – बायें हाथ में जल लेकर दाहिने हाथ की अनामिका से निम्न मंत्र का जाप करते हुए अपने ऊपर जल तथा पूजन सामग्री का छिड़काव करें-

अपवित्र – पवित्र या सर्ववसं गतोपी वा।

यह स्मृति पुंडरीकासम सा बह्याभ्यंतरा शुचिः।
फिर पुंडरीकाक्षम, फिर पुंडरीकाक्षम, फिर पुंडरीकाक्षम।

कथा वाचन और आरती

श्री सत्यनारायण व्रत-पूजनकर्ता पूर्णिमा या संक्रांति के दिन स्नान करके कोरे अथवा धुले हुए शुद्ध वस्त्र पहनें, माथे पर तिलक लगाएँ और शुभ मुहूर्त में पूजन शुरू करें। इस हेतु शुभ आसन पर पूर्व या उत्तर दिशा की ओर मुँह करके सत्यनारायण भगवान का पूजन करें। पंडित जी द्वारा सत्यनारायण पूजा से संबंधित मंत्रों का जाप किया जाएगा | पूजनकर्ता द्वारा बाएं हाथ में जल लेकर दाहिने हाथ की अनामिका से निम्न मंत्र बोलते हुए अपने ऊपर एंव पूजन सामग्री पर जल छिड़कें |

इसके पश्चात्‌ सत्यनारायण व्रत कथा का वाचन अथवा श्रवण करें। पूजा के बाद सत्यनारायण की कथा पढ़ें या सुनें। कथा पूरी होने पर प्रभु की आराधना करें। परिक्रमा करें। अब नेवैद्य अर्पित करें। फल, मिठाई, पिसी चीनी, जो भी सामग्री आपने एकत्र की है। वह सब चीजें भगवान को अर्पित करें। सभी भक्तों को भगवान का प्रसाद बांटें।  पूजा के सफल होने की प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए।
