माता लक्ष्मी को इस संसार में भौतिक सुखों को प्रदान करने वाली देवी के रूप में पूजा जाता है। माता लक्ष्मी की पूजा और उन्हें प्रसन्न करने के लिए ही महालक्ष्मी यंत्र की पूजा और स्थापना की जाती। धार्मिक मतानुसार महालक्ष्मी यंत्र को दीपावली के दिन स्थापित करने से अत्याधिक फल प्राप्त होता है।

इसे चांदी, सोने या तांबे की प्लेट पर बनवाकर योग्य पंडित या गृहिणी द्वारा स्थापित कराना चाहिए। इस यंत्र को स्थापित करने के बाद इसके समक्ष प्रतिदिन धूप-बत्ती दिखाकर “ॐ महालक्ष्मयै नम:” मंत्र की ग्यारह माला का जाप करना चाहिए। यंत्र को स्थायी रूप से अपने अथवा कार्य अथवा पूजा स्थल में स्थापित करना चाहिए।
