A Gaj Mani (गज मणि) is a greenish-brown, oval anatomical structure that has a mouth or pipe depending on how one interprets it. It is said to have magical and medicinal properties. It’s a form of pearl found in one in a million elephants. If studied in minutely and in detail, one finds it to be a natural, antique article based on its reactions when exposed to certain materials. Extremely rare and hence expensive, they are supposed to bring great fortune to the owner of such a pearl.
