Pandit NM Shrimali explains, In Feng Shui, Feng-Shui Triple Frog Family or Chinese Money Frog is an essential medium to attract an abundance of wealth and prosperity. There are many other names given to the Feng-Shui Triple Frog Family.
Three legged frog is a kind of Fengshui symbol. The money frog has a legend attached to it. According to the legend, there was a frog named Chan Chu. The wife of one of the eight immortals stole the elixir of immortality and fled to the moon. After she drank the elixir she turned into an ugly toad. Compassionate gods allowed her to keep the tail of a tadpole or third leg, versus two legs of a fully developed toad.
The Frog Chan Chu liked money, too and was persuaded into a well of Gold coins. Wealth frogs are associated with money because they can always be found near the water and water signifies wealth. The relationship between wealth and water were associated with the frog. Money frogs are also considered to look like a fat coin purse hence they are connected with wealth. Chan Chu was also associated with the moon which is the ultimate feminine force and legend says that it swallows the moon during an eclipse.
Pandit Ji says that according to the Chinese legend, the moon brings the toads out and that when they appear it brings good news regarding money gains. It is also said according to the legend that if you scratch the ground with a toad’s foot, a spring will erupt there. The wealth frog has many forms in the Feng Shui. Sometimes the wealth frog is shown sitting on a bagua, and holds strings of coins gold ingots. Manchu or Wealth Frog represents protection from bad luck that causes financial problems in good luck. Pandit Ji says The money frog is considered to help people end bad financial habits that cause financial problems such as overspending etc. Money Frog or wealth frog should be placed properly at home or office. Do not place the frog directly opposite to the door as the energy is too strong. Place the frog in the lucky corner in the room. Do not place the frog on the floor. Place it on a low table such as a ledge or a coffee table. For best results place money frogs in the important areas of the house such as wealth corner, the living room, your home office or dining room. This is the spot of greatest energy and is typically diagonal to the door and where chi is the most concentrated.
According to Shrimali Ji, Feng Shui Triple Frog Family is most beneficial for prosperity. 3 three legged Toad with a coin in his mouth is supposed to be a very auspicious animal. It is supposed to increase and protect your wealth and prosperity. However, the placement of this toad is very important. It should be placed inside the main door of our House or Office, but its face should be in the opposite direction i.e. it should face inside towards the house thereby representing that it has just come inside the house with wealth in its mouth. Hence we should position the three-legged frog symbols near the vicinity of the front door but facing inwards as if has just come into the house. Do not place the toad directly facing the door. This symbolizes gold going out of the house Also this toad should never be placed inside the bathroom or kitchen. You can gift it as well. It’s made by resin.
Most of the 3 legged toads available have a coin in their mouth. If there’s none then you need to buy a separate coin from the vendor.
The coin in the mouth of the toad is very important. It represents the money or monetary benefits that the toad bringing in with it.
Depending upon the manufacturer, 2 types of coins are available:

1. With Ruby (symbolic) at the centre of the coin
2. With Chinese Symbols and Writings.

If you get the Ruby one, then make sure that the Ruby side is pointing upwards (and never downwards) once you place the coin in frog’s mouth.
If you get a coin with Chinese writings on one side and symbols (usually 4) on the other, then make sure that the Chinese symbol side is facing upwards once the coin is placed in toad’s mouth.
