Know why Lord Shiva is called Mahakal – Mahakal

Mahakal Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali has told that Lord Shiva is called ‘Maha Kaal’ because he is beyond Kaal i.e. time and death. All the three times are included in him – past, present and future.. Mahadev knows about these three. Once the god of death Yamraj came to take the life of sage Markandeya. But Lord Shiva himself appeared with his trident in the Shivling to protect sage Markandeya. Yamraj could not take sage Markandeya with him. So death (Kaal) cannot touch anyone until the permission of Lord Shiva is there. Shankar ji also controls the time (Kaal). So it is Mahadev only without whose permission Yamraj cannot take anyone’s life. Chanting Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra never leads to untimely death. So Lord Shiva is also Kaal of Kaal, hence he is called ‘Maha Kaal’. May Bholenath do good to good people and destroy evil. Mahakal

Mahakaal means beyond time, or beyond the periphery of time. Shiva is the cause of destruction among all the three gods, after destruction or holocaust, the whole creation starts from a new end. In such a situation, everything merges in that annihilation. That is, all come under time, and the destruction of all is certain. In this sequence, not only creation, but also destruction and creation of Indra, Brahma, even Shri Vishnu keep on happening. That’s why all these also come under the purview of time. Only the God of destruction destroys everyone according to time by staying outside the periphery of Shiva’s time, that is why he is called Mahakal. Mahakal

Mahakal is the destroyer of time

According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, Ujjain which was earlier also known as Ujjaini and Avantikapuri. A Shiva devotee Brahmin used to reside here. The people of Avantikapuri were suffering from the wrath of a demon named Dushan. People knew him by the name of Kaal. Ji Dushan had got many powers from Brahma, by misusing which he used to trouble innocent people. The Brahmin was deeply saddened by the wrath of the demon’s powers, he prayed to Lord Shiva to destroy the demon, but the Lord did nothing for a long time. Seeing no effect of prayers, one day Brahma got angry with Lord Shiva and stopped worshiping him. Seeing his Brahmin devotee sad, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of Hunkar and killed Dushan. Because people used to call Dushan as Kaal, hence Lord Shiva was named Mahakal because of his killing. Mahakal

Mahakal Darshan is given to the devotees in different forms

There is only one Mahakal enshrined in Ujjain, but he appears to his devotees in different forms. They are decorated according to every year and festival. Just as he becomes a bridegroom in Shivratri, he becomes a king in the month of Shravan. Where Mahakal’s courtyard is decorated with lamps in Diwali, it is colored with gulal in Holi. Where in the summer season water falls from pots on the head of Mahakal, then in the month of Kartik, Lord Vishnu gets seated in a palanquin to hand over the task of creation. Mahakal is worshiped for the prevention of premature death.

The worship of Baba Mahakal has special significance because of the killing of Kaal. It is said that the devotee who worships Baba Mahakal with a true heart, never gets scared of death, nor does he ever die prematurely.
