Origin of Shankhchur demon by the curse of Radha Rani

The conch which is held by many deities in their hands and without which the worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is considered incomplete, the same conch is not used in the worship of Lord Shiva. According to the story of Brahmavaivarta Purana, once Radha Rani had gone out of Goloka due to some reason. After that, when Lord Krishna was walking with a friend named Virja, then only he returns and when Radharani finds Lord Krishna with Virja, she starts saying bad things to Krishna and Virja. After feeling humiliated, Virja Virja started flowing like a river.

Hearing the harsh words of Radha Rani, Sudama took the side of his friend Lord Krishna and started talking to Radharani in passionate words. Enraged by this behavior of Sudama, Radha Rani cursed him to be born as a demon. After this, Sudama also cursed Radha Rani to take birth in human form. After this incident, Sudama became a demon named Shankhachur. Conch Shell

The mystery behind the taboo of conch shells in the worship of Lord Shiva

According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, there was a mighty demon named Shankhchud. Shankhchud was the son of Daityaraj Dambh. When Daityaraj Dambh did not have a child for a long time, he did penance to Lord Vishnu. Pleased, Lord Vishnu appeared. When asked to ask for a boon, Dambh asked for the boon of Ajay and a mighty son for all the three worlds. Saying Shri Hari Amen, he became introspective. After this a son was born to Dambh. Its name was Shankhchud. Shankhchud did severe penance for Brahmaji in Pushkar and pleased him. Brahma asked to ask for a boon, then Shankhchud asked for a boon that he should become Ajay for the gods. Brahmaji said Amen and gave him Shri Krishna Kavach. At the same time, Brahma ordered Shankhchud to marry Dharmadhvaj’s daughter Tulsi. Then they became introspective. Conch Shell

Tulsi and Shankhchud got married by the order of Brahma. Due to the boon of Brahma and Vishnu, the shattered demon Shankhchud established ownership over all the three worlds. Distressed, the deities sought help from Vishnu, but he himself had given Dambha the boon of such a son. So the gods prayed to Shiva. Then Shiva decided to remove the sorrows of the gods and they left. But because of Shri Krishna Kavach and Tulsi’s pativrata religion, even Shivji was not able to succeed in killing him. Then Vishnu assumed the form of a Brahmin and took his Sri Krishna Kavach as a donation from the demon king. After this, by taking the form of conch shell, he took away the modesty of Tulsi. Now Shiva reduced Shankhchud to ashes with his trishul and the conch shell was born from its bones. Since Shankhchud was a devotee of Vishnu. That’s why Lakshmi-Vishnu loves conch water very much and there is a law to offer water from conch to all the deities. But Shiva had killed him, so the water of the conch has been said to be forbidden to Shiva. Conch Shell
