Chaitra Navratri 2023 According to Guru Maa Nidhi Shrimali, Chaitra Navratri will begin on March 22, 2023, and continue until March 30, 2023. During Navratri, the worship of Goddess Durga will be carried out for all nine days.

Navratri is a Hindu festival, which means ‘nine nights.’ During these nine nights and ten days, the worship of the nine forms of the Shakti/Goddess is performed. The tenth day is celebrated as Dussehra. Navratri is celebrated four times a year- Paush, Chaitra, Ashad, and Ashwin, from the first day of the lunar month to the ninth day. Navratri is an important festival celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout India. The auspicious time for Kalash Sthapana, which means the establishment of the holy pot, is usually during the Pratipada tithi or the first day of Navratri. Shubh Muhurat for Kalash Sthapana

To receive the blessings of Goddess Durga during Navratri, Kalash Puja is performed according to the prescribed rituals. As per Guru Maa Nidhi Shrimaali Ji, the auspicious muhurat for Kalash Sthapana starts from 10:55 PM on 21st March and continues till 08:25 PM on 22nd March. The nine forms of the Goddess worshipped during Navratri are:

  1. Shailputri: The daughter of the mountains, who rides a bull.
  2. Brahmacharini: The one who practices devout austerity and penance.
  3. Chandraghanta: The one with a half-moon-shaped like a bell on her forehead.
  4. Kushmanda: The one who resides in the core of the sun and shines like it.
  5. Skandamata: The mother of Skanda or Lord Kartikeya, who sits on a lotus and has four arms.
  6. Katyayani: The daughter of sage Katyayana, who rides a lion and is known for her valour.
  7. Kalaratri: The dark, fierce form of the Goddess, who is worshipped at night.
  8. Mahagauri: The one who is extremely fair and represents purity and peace.
  9. Siddhidatri: The one who grants all types of Siddhis or spiritual perfections.

During Navratri, the devotees fast, chant mantras and perform puja to seek the blessings of the nine forms of the Goddess. It is believed that by performing the puja with utmost devotion and dedication, the Goddess blesses her devotees with good health, wealth, and prosperity.

  1. First form of Maa Durga ‘ Shailputri ‘

The first form of Mother Durga is known as ‘Shailputri’. There are nine forms of Devi Durga, and Shailputri is the first form of Durga. Her name comes from the fact that she was born as the daughter of King Himalaya, who is the king of mountains. She is worshipped on the first day of Navratri, and yogis begin their spiritual practice by focusing their mind on the ‘Muladhara’ chakra on this day. Shailputri is depicted riding on a bull, which is the symbol of Lord Shiva. She is a fierce warrior who protects all living beings, including wild animals. In her right hand, she holds a trident, which symbolizes balance through dharma, artha, and moksha. In her left hand, she holds a lotus flower, which represents detachment from the material world.

2) Another form of Maa Durga ‘Brahmacharini’

3) The third form of Maa Durga Maa ‘Chandraghanta’

The name of the third power of Maa Durgaji is Chandraghanta. The worship of the third day is very important in Navratri worship and on this day only their idols are worshipped. On this day the mind of the seeker enters the ‘Manipur’ chakra.

4) Kushmanda is the fourth form of Maa Durga.

This goddess has been named as Kushmanda because of her slow, soft laugh that created the egg i.e. the universe. This goddess has eight arms, hence called Ashtabhuja. In their seven hands, respectively, Kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus-flower, nectar-filled vase, chakra and mace are held. In the eighth hand, there is a chanting rosary which gives all achievements and funds. The vehicle of this goddess is a lion and she loves the sacrifice of Kumhra. In culture, pot is called Kushmand, hence this goddess is called Kushmanda.

The abode of this goddess is in the world within the solar system. Only these have the ability to live in Suryalok. That’s why the radiance and light of his body is as resplendent as the sun. All the ten directions are illuminated by his glory. His glory pervades all the objects and beings of the universe.

This goddess should be worshiped on the fourth day of Navratri with a calm and pious mind. This destroys the diseases and sorrows of the devotee and he gets age, fame, strength and health. This goddess blesses by being pleased with very little service and devotion. One who worships with a true heart easily attains the supreme position.

5) Maa Skandamata, the fifth form of Maa Durga

This goddess has four arms. He is holding Skanda in his lap with the right upper arm. There is a lotus flower in the lower arm. This goddess is worshiped on the fifth day of Navratri. It is said that by his grace even a fool becomes wise. Because of the mother of Skanda Kumar Kartikeya, she has been designated as Skandamata. In his deity, Lord Skanda is seated on his lap in the form of a child. This goddess has four arms. He is holding Skanda in his lap with the right upper arm. There is a lotus flower in the lower arm. On the left side, the upper arm is in Varadamudra and the lower arm has a lotus flower. His character is absolutely pure. She sits on a lotus seat. That is why it is also called Padmasana. Lion is his vehicle.

Its Pushkal importance has been told in the scriptures. All the wishes of the devotee are fulfilled by their worship. The devotee gets salvation. Being the presiding deity of the solar system, her worshiper becomes supernaturally bright and radiant. Therefore, the seeker or devotee who worships this goddess by keeping the mind concentrated and pure does not face any difficulty in crossing the ocean.

By worshiping him, the path of salvation becomes accessible. This goddess is the power to create scholars and servants. Means the one who creates consciousness. It is said that Raghuvansham epic and Meghdoot compositions composed by Kalidas became possible only by the grace of Skandamata.

6) The sixth form of Maa Durga ‘Maa Katyayani’

Mother Katyayani is worshiped on the sixth day of Navratri. By worshiping and worshiping them, the devotees easily get the four fruits of Artha, Dharma, Kama and Moksha. By worshiping Kalaratri, the doors of all the siddhis of the universe start opening and all the demonic powers start running away in fear at the mere utterance of her name.

It is expressed by the name that this seventh power of Maa Durga is known by the name of Kalaratri, that is, whose body color is completely black like dense darkness. It is evident from the name itself that their form is terrible. The hair of the head is scattered and there is a garland shining like electricity around the neck. Kalaratri is the destroyer of dark situations. This is the power that protects even from death.

This goddess has three eyes. All these three eyes are as round as the universe. Fire keeps coming out of his breath. It rides on the neck. The Var Mudra of the raised right hand gives boons to the devotees. The bottom hand on the right side is in Abhaya Mudra. Means devotees always be fearless, fearless.

There is an iron fork in the top left hand and a sword in the bottom hand. Her form may be fierce but she is always the mother who gives auspicious results. That’s why it is called Shubhankari. 8) The eighth form of Maa Durga ‘Maa Mahagauri’

The name of the eighth power of Maa Durgaji is Mahagauri. On the eighth day of Durga Puja, there is a ritual of worshiping Goddess Mahagauri. Their power is unfailing and always fruitful. By worshiping him, all the sins of the devotees are washed away, the pre-accumulated sins are also destroyed.

Ashtavarsha Bhaved Gauri means his age is considered to be eight years. All his ornaments and clothes are white. That is why he has been called Shwetambardhara. He has 4 arms and his vehicle is Taurus, that is why he is also called Vrisharudha.

The upper right hand is in abhaya mudra and the lower hand is holding a trishul. The top left hand holds a drum and the bottom hand holds the groom’s pose. His whole posture is very calm. Mahagauri did severe penance to get Shiva as her husband. Because of this, his body turned black, but being pleased with his penance, Lord Shiva made his body radiant by washing it with the holy water of the Ganges. His form became of fair complexion. That’s why it is called Mahagauri.

She is an unfailing fruit giver and by worshiping her all the sins of the devotees are washed away. Pre-accumulated sins are also destroyed. Worship-worship, worship-worship of Mahagauri is welfare. By his grace, supernatural achievements are also achieved.

9) The ninth form of Maa Durga ‘Maa Siddhidatri’

The name of the ninth power of Maa Durgaji is Siddhidatri. She is one who bestows all kinds of attainments They are worshiped on the ninth day of Navratri-worship. On this day, the seeker who does spiritual practice with classical law and full devotion gets all the achievements.

Lord Shiva had also attained all these achievements by the grace of this goddess. It was by the grace of this goddess that half of Shiva’s body was of the goddess. For this reason Shiva became famous by the name Ardhanarishwar.

This goddess is worshiped on the ninth day. This goddess is the goddess who gives all the achievements. By his grace on the worshiper or devotee, even the most difficult tasks become possible in a pinch. His famous pilgrimage is on Nanda Parvat in Himachal. Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva and Vashitva are eight achievements.
