Legend associated with Bel Patra
According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, there was a churning of ocean between demons and deities to get nectar. The first water that came out in this ocean churning was the poison named Halahal. The effect of this poison was so strong that all the demons and gods started burning. The poison was so potent that it would burn the entire universe. It was beyond everyone’s capacity to bear the heat of this poison. In such a situation, all the people reached to Lord Shiva. Tell the whole incident to Lord Shiva. Then Lord Shiva drank that poison to save the universe, due to which his throat turned blue and the heat of his body increased. During this, to reduce the temperature of Shiva’s body, he was anointed with Ganges water and the deities made him consume bel patra. With the effect of which Lord Shiva got a lot of relief and his body temperature started decreasing. Since then it is believed that Lord Shiva loves Belpatra very much. For this reason, by offering bel patra to Lord Shiva, he fulfills all the wishes of the devotees. Bilv Patra
