How Shaktipeeths were built
According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, Daksha Prajapati, the father of Maa Sati, wife of Lord Shankar, was once performing a Mahayagya, in which he had invited all the gods and goddesses, but did not invite them due to displeasure with Lord Shankar. When mother Sati questioned her father about this, he also said bad words about Lord Shankar, angry with this, mother Sati sacrificed her life in the same Yagya Kund. When Lord Shiva came to know about this, he picked up the body of Sati and started doing Tandav. Due to Lord Shiva’s anger-filled tandav, the holocaust started increasing on the earth, to stop which Lord Vishnu cut the body of mother Sati into pieces with his Sudarshan Chakra.
