What is the meaning of Jyotirlinga? Origin of Jyotirlinga?
Jyotirlinga Jyotirlinga is made up of two words. Shiva appeared in the form of a bright light. According to Guru Maa Nidhi Ji Shrimali, Shiva appeared personally in the form of a divine light. He was sitting in his different forms at 12 different places of the earth. The meaning of Jyotirlinga is a pillar of light. It is said that once there was an argument between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu as to who was the supreme deity. Then Lord Shiva appeared in the form of a light pillar and asked everyone to find the end of this light pillar. Lord Vishnu moved upwards and Lord Brahma downwards to find the end of this Jyotirlinga. But still they did not get the end of it. Later, Lord Shiva dropped the light pillar on the earth and today it is known as Jyotirlinga.
